Thámova: Benches you actually want to sit on
The pedestrian zone on Thámova Street should be a pleasant spot to stop and relax. However, dirty trash cans and damaged benches are anything but welcoming, and the area has been waiting eight years for its promised makeover.
That is why our mayoral candidate, Václav Stránský, grabbed a pressure washer and some tools and got to work. He gave the benches the care they had long deserved. After all, we shouldn’t have to wait for a major renovation just for basic maintenance. But a one-time cleanup isn’t enough. We want regular maintenance for street furniture, clean and safe areas around metro stations, and the implementation of long-overdue improvements.
Ládví: Navigating with a stroller shouldn't be an obstacle course
Near the Střelničná tram stop, the underpass beneath Štěpničná Street makes commuting a hassle. Its slippery ramps are difficult to navigate with a stroller or a wheeled shopping bag. Crossing the street safely means dealing with an annoying obstacle or taking a long detour, leading some residents to risk their safety by jaywalking through traffic.
Our candidate Vlaďka Vojtíšková is pushing for an accessible, barrier-free pedestrian crossing here. We want parents with strollers, seniors, and people with limited mobility to be able to cross the street safely and comfortably. Catching a tram should be a normal part of your day that you can manage completely on your own.
Streets must serve the people
Both locations share a simple requirement: public spaces must work for everyday use. In some places, regular maintenance is enough; in others, structural changes are needed. We want the town hall to deliver on both.
